چکیده

In this study, we present a model based on the “second-order” nonlinear homogenization method for estimating the macroscopic response and the evolution of microstructure in two-dimensional viscoplastic porous media. The estimates of the new model are compared with unit cell finite element calculations and the earlier “variational” nonlinear homogenization method. The three methods are compared for uniaxial tension and compression, as well as for simple shear loadings. The “secondorder” model is found to improve on the earlier “variational” method by being in good agreement with the finite element results.

A FEM Multiscale Homogenization Procedure using Nanoindentation for High Performance Concrete

This paper aims to develop a numerical multiscale homogenization method for prediction of elasto-viscoplastic properties of a high performance concrete (HPC). The homogenization procedure is separated into two-levels according to the microstructure of the HPC: the mortar or matrix level and the concrete level. The elasto-viscoplastic behavior of individual microstructural phases of the matrix a...

Numerical homogenization of nonlinear viscoplastic two-dimensional polycrystals ?

In this paper, we numerically determine the effective stress-strain relation of some two-dimensional polycrystals. These are aggregates of a few tens of perfectly bonded single-crystal (hexagonal atomic lattice) grains, with varying orientations. Each grain obeys a given nonlinear viscoplastic stress-strain relation, which depends on the orientation of the grain. Precise calculations performed ...

Homogenization-based constitutive models for porous elastomers and implications for macroscopic instabilities: I—Analysis

The purpose of this paper is to provide homogenization-based constitutive models for the overall, finite-deformation response of isotropic porous rubbers with random microstructures. The proposed model is generated by means of the ‘‘second-order’’ homogenization method, which makes use of suitably designed variational principles utilizing the idea of a ‘‘linear comparison composite.’’ The const...

Homogenization of Viscoplastic Models of Monotone Type with Positive Semi-Definite Free Energy

Using the periodic unfolding method we construct the homogenization theory for the quasistatic initial boundary value problems with internal variables, which model the deformation behavior of viscoplastic materials with a periodic microstructure. The free energy associated with models is assumed to be positive semi-definite only.

Investigation of pore-scale random porous media using lattice boltzmann method

The permeability and tortuosity of pore-scale two and three-dimensional random porous media were calculated using the Lattice Boltzmann method (LBM). Effects of geometrical parameters of medium on permeability and tortuosity were investigated as well. Two major models of random porous media were reconstructed by computerized tomography method: Randomly distributed rectangular obstacles in a uni...
